Luhačovice, a town with more than 300 years of spa tradition, is situated in the picturesque valley of untouched nature of the protected landscape area of the White Carpathians, in the southeastern Moravia in the Zlín region. These most visited baths of Moravia and the fourth largest spa of the Czech Republic owe their origin and development to the local healing mineral springs. The first mention of the existence of Luhačovice mineral springs dates back to 1669, when their chemical composition and the way of drinking treatment were described. The solid foundations for the development of the spa in Luhačovice were then laid by the noble family of Serényi with their financial contributions to the first spa facilities that were built at the end of the 18th century. However Luhačovice spa acquired its face only at the beginning of the 20th century, when the Spa Luhačovice a.s. was founded in order to build a modern spa and cultural center of Luhačovice. An important architect, Dušan Jurkovič, the author of a number of buildings inspired by the folk architecture of Valašska and Kysuce, who built here in 1902-1903 12 people-Art Nouveau buildings, that gave a unique character to Luhačovice.

A splendid display of his work is today’s spa hotel Jurkovičův dům, Hydrotherapy Institute, Sun Spa and much more. The symbol and the most famous spring that Luhačovice became famous for at home and abroad is undoubtedly Vincentka Spring, bottled in bottles, which is a typical gift and souvenir you can take from a spa stay. Vincent’s bottles sales date back to 1820 and are used for spa purposes even longer. In addition to bottles, it is also sold in nose spray applicators and as a concentrate for cavity spraying. It is added as a controlled salt to lozenges, toothpastes, syrups, moisturizing creams and Vincent’s sprays. The people of Luhačovice are proud for Vincentka, as it is one of the synonym of this spa town.

The main indication of the Luhačovice spa is the respiratory diseases of children and adults. In addition, there are diseases of the digestive tract, diabetes, locomotory system, circulatory system and oncological diseases. As a unique natural medicinal source, Luhačovice mineral springs are used, which are considered to be one of the most effective medicinal waters in Europe for their high mineral content and excellent carbon dioxide emissions. Mineral sources include sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, copper, strontium, aluminum, iodine, lithium, barium, fluorine, boron, beryllium, silver, nickel, titanium and zinc. A total of seventeen hydrogen carbonate-sodium chlorohydrocarbons and one sulfuric acid are used in the spa, with a temperature between 10-12 ° C. Every hour there is 15,000 liters of these mineral waters. The most famous medicinal springs of Luhačovice include Aloiska, Ottovka, the spring of Dr. Šťastný, St. Joseph and especially Vincentka, which Luhačovice balneotherapy uses for drinking, inhalations and natural mineral baths.

The most famous Vincentka spring of Luhačovice, named after the owner of Count Vincenc Serényi, who helped the flow of the spa, is the basic inhalation medium in most inhalators in the Czech Republic. Spa treatment with mineral springs is combined with state-of-the-art healing and rehabilitation methods provided in balneoprojections of treatment facilities and hotels.
