The Ostrožská Nová Ves resort with sulphur waters is located in the heart of Moravian Slovakia, 8 km far from Uherské Hradiště. These places are famous for their rich folklore, vineyards and numerous wine cellars, as well as historical monuments. The resort is situated on the outskirts of the municipal forest, which is 10 hectares large. From one side it is surrounded by the peaks of the White Carpathians, on the other side there is a hilly region of Chřiby, with the Buchlov Fortress placed there. The local resort tradition began here in the early 20th century, when in the year of 1903 the local swamp waters were examined, and the close analysis confirmed their medicinal effect. Two mineral springs, rich in serum, silica, calcium, sodium, magnesium and iron, are mainly used for treatment of skin diseases and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. In Ostrožská Nová Ves a lot of traditional folk crafts have been preserved, such as coloring of Easter eggs, which became popular as early as the 19th century.

All-time favourite holiday in these places is the September celebration of St. Vatslav Day with a procession of costumed youth. The city became famous for its beautiful folklore costumes, as well as the production of dulcimer, which even today is made by local master Jiří Galuška, whose workshop can be visited if agreed with the master. People in the town have preserved the tradition of famous needlewomen who make bobbin laces in the old way with the help of spools. In the summertime Ostrožská Nová Ves attracts tourists by swimming in numerous lakes, which are sometimes called the “Slovak Sea”, and which are ideal for all water sports enthusiasts. This lake region is also known for its natural resources. On its wetlands of 9 hectares a lot of water fowl and wading birds weave their nests, and the local environment is important for the survival of a number of rare invertebrate species and plants.

The Ostrožská Nová Ves Spa provides the patient with balneotherapy based on sulphurous springs, bored out in several places behind the spa colonnade. According to the balneological classification it is the natural sulphurous hypotonic cold mineral water. Sulphurous waters are known for their anti-inflammatory, analgesic and disinfective properties. Their use results in elimination of muscle spasms, positively affects the connective tissues, improves blood supply to tissues, suppresses allergic reactions, improves nonspecific immunity. The waters are of combined effect and influence on skin and musculosceletal systém in a positive way, moreover, the benefitial effect of such waters on chronic fatigue syndrome is also noticed. The water is used for baths, wraps, as well as it is the basic component for the preparation of certain cosmetics. But the main therapeutic procedure is, of course, sulphuric baths, which significantly help to improve health in the treatment of orthopedic, rheumatoid, neurological and skin diseases.

The treatment of skin diseases that are difficult to treat, especially psoriasis, eczema and acne, is especially successful at the spa. Spa procedures not only remove the unpleasant skin symptoms of these diseases, but also return a healthy look to skin. Women especially will definitely appreciate specialized programs for cellulite and other cosmetic skin problems, which also take into account specific skin characteristics (sensitive, oily, with acne, etc.) One more specialization of this local resort is the treatment of the musculoskeletal system, spine, conditions after operations and traumas, including conditions after total endoprosthetics, as well as treatment of neurological diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The fact is that sulphurous waters help well in the treatment of the vascular system, especially in the treatment of lymphatic edema and vascular diseases of the limbs. At the resort the original medical cosmetics SYNOVA is produced, it contains sulphurous water from local springs, which is recommended to patients of the sanatorium after treatment as a follow-up cosmetic care for problematic skin for patients with psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, eczema, and acne.
